What Dumb is

Dumb is a mail client, not a mail service. It signs in to the Google account you already have, fetches your mail directly from Google to your device, and keeps it in a file inside the app’s own storage.

There is no Dumb account and no Dumb server. We operate no backend, no relay, no proxy and no cloud storage, so your mail is never sent to us — there is nowhere to send it. The app carries no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDK that reports anything anywhere.

What it accesses in your Google Account

Dumb asks for three permissions when you sign in, and no others:

• Gmail — full mailbox access, over IMAP and SMTP. Reading your mail, the triage actions — archive, Later, mark read, star — and sending. Google grants the IMAP and SMTP protocols only under this permission, and it does allow permanent deletion: Dumb moves mail to your Bin and stops there, and nothing anywhere in the app permanently deletes a message.
• Your email address. To know which mailbox is signed in, and to label the account.
• Your name and profile photo. To show you as yourself in the account list and sender picker.

It asks for no calendar permission at all. The calendar screen reads the calendars your device already has, through the operating system’s own Calendar service and with the permission you grant there — so Dumb makes no network connection of its own for the calendar, and nothing about it passes through Google’s APIs.

How that data is used

Google user data obtained through these permissions is used only to provide the features above, on your device. It is not transferred to anyone, not sold, not used for advertising, not used to train or evaluate any AI model, and not read by any human, including us.

Dumb’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The Privacy Policy sets out every network connection the app makes.

Dumb is developed and published by S25 Studio Pty Ltd, Sydney, Australia. It is an independent application, not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google LLC or Apple Inc.
